About

Hello, and welcome to my family’s adventure to live like suburban pioneers! Inspired by the generations before us and “The Blue Zone” documentary, we have set out to see how we can live in a more resourceful and connected way with our community. The main intent is to eliminate our contributions to landfills and use local resources whenever possible while sharing our experiences through this blog.

Each post will dive into certain aspects of modern American suburbia of the United States and explore how we embrace our inner pioneer. We’ll do two weeks of research and one month of experimenting and then write about our experiences here. The tone will be optimistic, yet realistic. We’ll happily tell you what did and didn’t work for us with some mid-western humor sprinkled throughout. This is not an environmental doomsday blog or a “live off rain water” blog, but you can certainly find that in other places if that’s what you’re looking for.

Thank you to my loving wife Sarah and our darling newborn son Harry, they have graciously agreed to join the suburbia pioneer life with me.

Thank you to the members of our community who make the process fun and possible.

And thank you for taking the time to read our stories. We hope you find them entertaining and informative. Feel free to reach out with questions, comments, and stories of your own. Contact info below:
